OUR MISSION:
We exist to help all people know Jesus by loving all people like Jesus.
OUR CORE VALUES:
1. We value teaching the truths of the Bible and applying them to real life.
We believe the Bible to be God’s Word. It is truth without any mixture of error. We believe the Bible to be the perfect treasure of God’s instruction. Living in a post-modern world that does not recognize absolute truth, we recognize the tremendous need to help people understand basic biblical truths and how to apply them to everyday life.
2. We value corporate, personal and lifestyle worship expressed biblically, passionately, and authentically.
We value authentic and passionate worship expressed in biblical truth and with personal vulnerability. For the believer, worship must be a primary focus is his or her Christian life. We have been blessed by outstanding corporate worship that is honoring to the Lord and edifying to His body. As we look to the future, we strive to offer worship to God that is pleasing to Him and fulfilling for people. We recognize the challenge of inter-generational worship as we blend styles, generations, and preferences. With this challenge in mind, we are committed to singing words of Scripture, praises and prayers in songs, hymns and spiritual songs.
3. We value doing and being our best so that we glorify God in all we do.
We are committed to delivering God honoring ministry to people, the community, and the world at large to the best of our ability. The Lord demands our best and we desire to give Him our best. We believe that “how” we do things is as important as “what” we do when it comes to ministering to people. We believe in glorifying God in all we do, by doing our best and being our best as a church ministry.
4. We value investing in the kingdom of God by giving ourselves away to other people and ministries.
We are committed to furthering the Lord’s kingdom by offering our, time, talent, resources and sacrifices to God. We are a privileged people and we desire to share these blessings with others. It is our desire to create a culture within the church that values extravagant giving and serving through shared sacrifice. As a church we intentionally divert resources away from ourselves in order to extravagantly invest in others and other ministries. To some this does not make sense but we see God’s Kingdom work and seek to invest in it.
5. We value developing relationships through Small Groups that make the church feel like home.
We desire to be a church that feels like a home. Many in South Florida are living far from their immediate and extended families and many have experienced pain and dysfunction in their families. We desire to be known as a warm, loving, and caring place. Our study has revealed that there is a real need for the church to reach out and engage more people beyond our walls; invite them into our homes; and into the church family. Small Groups that are marked with fellowship, worship, study and discipleship makes church feel like home. Small Groups are a strategic part of our strategy for growing and maturing disciples. The church has initiated a comprehensive small group ministry, and we are committed to expanding this critical ministry in the next decade.
6. We value God’s plan for the family and seek to support the family with all our ministries.
Weston has been identified as one of America’s most family friendly communities. Knowing that the schools, recreation, and lifestyle opportunities in Weston attract young families, we have intentionally focused our ministries for family. We have families from across the country to around the globe and the diversity of the community is clearly seen in the families at FBW. We seek to minister to the diversity by focusing upon God’s plan as described in the Bible for the family. FBW’s commitment is to offer care and nurturing through family ministries that address the needs of all individuals at every stage of life.
ASPIRATIONAL VALUES:
In defining and refreshing FBW’s Core Values, the 20/40 Team closely evaluated other primary values and how they may influence, shape and drive ministry focus. These have been defined as Aspirational Values. They represent values that we hold with deep conviction and reverence, but we believe FBW needs and should desire further growth and development before we are able to view these as actual Core Values:
7. We value sharing Christ in our community through our relationships with people.
Jesus Christ’s provides the best example and plan for effectively sharing the gospel. His work with His followers eventually led to the “gossiping” of the gospel to the entire world. It is our responsibility to continue sharing the gospel by being ambassadors for Christ. We believe every true believer will be compelled by the love of Christ to tell others about Jesus. We believe that those who follow Jesus will not only be ready but will be able to give the reason for their hope. We endeavor to follow Jesus’ pattern in establishing close, intimate, and caring relationships. We will seek to model this pattern of developing and maintaining healthy relationships with unbelievers and introducing Jesus Christ in these relationships.
8. We value being good stewards by volunteering our time, sharing our talents and giving of our treasures towards fulfilling the church’s mission.
Effective ministry requires us to inspire, educate, mobilize, and engage all people to become involved. We desire that all people participate and contribute to furthering the Kingdom of God by applying their unique talents, gifts, and resources to the needs at hand. We have been blessed by many who have sacrificially given themselves to the ministry of the church. We will continue to encourage more and more people to expand their stewardship to maximize the impact on God’s Kingdom. We believe that because God lavished Jesus and the gift of salvation on us that it is incumbent on us to lavishly and generously give to God our time, talents and treasures.
