OUR VISION
We envision First Baptist at Weston helping people know Jesus by loving them like Jesus.
We envision a multi-cultural community of Christians who develop relationships with unbelievers in order to introduce people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. We envision the members of FBW actively engaging their families, friends, neighbors, co-workers and strangers with the gospel and many of them coming to faith in Jesus.
As hundreds of people every year come to faith in Christ, we envision these believers being discipled through new believer classes, ongoing small groups, and specialized discipleship classes. These disciples will be taught how to set aside worldliness, selfishness, and dysfunction by being taught a Christian world-view and by being encouraged to display Christ-likeness in their daily life. We envision disciples who are mature in their thinking and behavior so they are equipped and empowered to answer difficult questions and demonstrate faithfulness to God in an anti-Christian society. We envision a church filled with members who are biblically literate and able to converse intelligently and persuasively with others. We believe this kind of transforming relationship with Jesus will help people experience significance in life, discover their unique calling from God, and provide them peace and hope for eternity.
We envision weekly corporate worship services that display biblical, passionate, and authentic worship expressed through music, song, testimony, fellowship, and expository preaching. We see this kind of worship as inspiring members and providing an atmosphere conducive for non-believers to come to faith in Christ. We see this intelligent, passionate, and sincere expression of worship satisfying a hunger for truth and satisfying people’s desire to touch the eternal. We envision this kind of corporate worship experience influencing members to worship God in their daily devotions and as a lifestyle.
We envision church members understanding the importance of investing in both God’s church and in God’s kingdom. We see the members of FBW being good stewards of every God given gift, talent and resource. We envision being able to invest in Christian ministries outside the church in order to resource other organizations within God’s kingdom. We envision members who have learned to give their time and resources for God’s church and His kingdom. We envision the church having the financial means to generously give towards other ministries as we see the needs of all people.
We envision FBW as a place filled with joy, laughter, and peace. It is a place where families learn and live within a community that nurtures the traditional family by teaching men, women, and children their identity in Christ and God’s plan and purpose for their lives. We envision people who become a part of God’s family as they participate in the ministry of the church and develop significant and supportive relationships that challenge them in their personal spiritual development. We envision confronting the current sexually perverse environment in our South Florida culture with a biblical vision of purity and love.
We envision FBW engaged in multiple international mission partnerships. Since the membership represents people from over sixty countries and it is uniquely located geographically, FBW has an opportunity to leverage these relationships in order to reach people for Christ and develop them into Christ-likeness. We envision a full-time Mission’s Pastor being added to the church staff who specifically and strategically develops these partnerships. We envision this pastor developing existing relationships, establishing new relationships, and taking advantage of the international nature of the church and community in order to accelerate the spread of the gospel and the planting of churches.
We envision the members of FBW mobilized and deployed in the community caring for people and meeting human needs. We envision people seeing others through the compassionate eyes of Jesus and being moved to action. We foresee adding an additional pastor to the church staff who resources these people and deploys them across Broward County to love others in Jesus’ name. We see these ministries and the church’s discipleship ministry producing numerous leaders who enter full-time Christian ministry or serve in various church staff capacities.
We envision FBW launching a Media Ministry in order to evangelize the lost, edify believers, and engage more people (especially the media driven young generation) with the truth of God’s Word. We envision a Media Director overseeing the development of this ministry so that it includes TV, radio, and the internet.
We envision expanding the current campus in Weston so it will accommodate all of the ministries, with ample room for growth. We believe church growth is God’s responsibility and that it is not just numeric. Church growth that honors God is numeric growth through evangelism, spiritual growth through discipleship, ministry growth through mobilization, and mission growth through multiplication. We envision FBW completing the construction described in the master plan for its current location. We envision these facilities will make it possible for the church to grow numerically again. We envision these expanded facilities will allow for hosting conferences in South Florida that ministers to the larger church community.
We envision a day when God supplies additional property for a multi-site ministry for the church that is regionally accessible and provides land and facilities for a regional Christian high school in Southwest Broward County and a worship location that reaches outside the Weston community.
We envision a church that understands its mission and passionately pursues its purpose by fulfilling its vision. Since Weston is a highly transient community, it is essential that the vision is clearly presented annually. We envision the church adjusting these plans annually to take advantage of the opportunities God affords it. The church staff will present an annual plan that keeps the church on task to fulfill this vision. We also understand that to fulfill this plan the church will need to adjust its structure to accommodate growth and the multiplication of ministries. This will include adding an Administrative Pastor who will coordinate all of the church staff and all of the ministries of the church.
We envision intentionally modifying our ministry as a new generation of young people move to Weston. We envision adding a Young Adult Pastor to coordinate evangelism, discipleship and ministry that is geared to the lifestyle these young families lead. We envision training young people in worship leadership to assist the church by leading in worship services on Sunday morning. We also envision the church staff will periodically share with the church about generational changes that require methodological adjustments in how the church performs it ministry.
We believe these dreams are inspired by God and that by His grace and for His glory these things can be and must be!
