The mission of the Missions Ministry Team is to build spiritually healthy followers of Christ who glorfiy God by sharing the Gospel to the whole world via the local church and it's members at First Baptist Church at Weston.
The Missions Ministry Team uses three tools to promote participation in missions among the members of FBW:
- Promote the church's annual Mission's Offering campaign to raise money used solely for missions. The funds raised are used to promote works that occur locally, statewide, nationally, and world-wide. The 2008/09 goal for the Mission's Offering is $100,000.
- Send short-term mission teams to allow members to serve on the field in sharing the Gospel to all peoples. Mission trips include:
- Quito, Ecuador
- Teotihuacan, Mexico
- World Changers (U.S.)
- Scotland
- Dominican Republic
- Additional ministries supported by First Baptist Church at Weston include trips to Africa and South America working with orphans, and Bethlehem Christmas Project
- Educate members about on-going mission works occurring around the world, in order to develop an awareness among Christ-followers of their needed participation in missions through prayer, finances, and service on the mission field.
Planning has already begun for the 2010 mission opportunities. Plans are being made to support works in the Carribbean, Mexico, Ecuado, and Scotland. Please check back here and in the worship guide for information about upcoming mission opportunites and how you can be involved.
