Ways that adults and students can serve include:
For children 5th grade or younger, they can participate in the VBS with the other kids or help their parents during VBS. We typically spend time doing evangelism and other ministry while in Mexico, under the direction of Pastor Juan. Weather/ What To Wear: It is summer and their rainy season in July & August. Expect warm days in the 80's and comfortable evenings in the 60's. Wear comfortable clothes for summer-time heat and bring rain gear. It will rain most afternoons. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring an extra pair in case it rains. For the Sunday morning church service, wear clothes that are "business casual". The only person who wears a coat and tie is Pastor Juan, everyone else is in casual clothes. SummaryThis is a great mission trip for people with little or no experience with missions. You are exposed to some of the best and worst of Mexico, but the environment is relatively safe. Also, it is a great trip for families because everyone can be a part of Vacation Bible School. There is enough work to realize you are making a difference to the church and people in Mexico, but the pace is slow enough that it keeps younger children from being overwhelmed by activity. |
